After nearly three months spent traveling throughout the country and staying at 18 different homes and hotels, my family is finally getting settled again. Although my girls enjoyed some precious summer days playing fairies with their cousins and making perfume with their West Coast friends, it’s time to get back into a normal routine and head back to school.
Here in our part of Virginia, schools resume after Labor Day, so we’re still in the preparation stages. One of my favorite “back-to-school” traditions is to interview each of my children. Kids change so much in the course of a year — I just love looking back and seeing their progress. I still remember when Ella was four and aspired to be a race car driver, an astronaut, a ballerina AND a teacher.
Here’s a simple little printable that you can download and use for your own student interviews. There is a box where you can have your child draw a picture of her first day of school OR paste a photograph of the day. Then, ask your child the questions and write down the answers.
If your child is old enough, let him fill out the questionnaire on his own. Kid handwriting is precious too!
